Today's show will be a tribute to moms everywhere on Mothers Day 2012.  If you are a mom, please call in to share your wisdom, observations, aphorisms.  If you spent time with your mom today, please call and tell us how you celebrated.  And if you weren't able to be with your mom today, please call and tell us what your mom means to you. My alergies are acting up, so I'll be doing a lot of listening today.  That means I'm depending on you.  And don't forget to wish me Happy Mothers Day.  I didn't get to celebrate because I had to work at Target, so I'll be celebrating with you. —Jess Join Jessica English on Coffee Party Radio from 5 PM to 7:30 PM eastern time each Sunday.  TALKING SHERIFF JOE! Coffee Party "Immigration for America" | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 02:20:00

In light of the federal civil rights law suit filed against Sheriff Joe Arpaio, we'll be talking in our second hour to Dan Devivo and Valeria Fernandez, the filmmakers behind the latest Sheriff Joe narrative, a documentary called "Two Americans."  An important reason why we should not mix politics and law enforcement: Sheriff Joe Arpaio has put electioneering and social issue extremism above law enforcement, compromising public safety for the largest county in Arizona, destroying the credibility of his department, and costing taxpayers millions of dollars.... And, according to the US Department of Justice, he has violated the constitutional rights of citizens and residents he had sworn to protect and serve. If the taxpayers choose to defend him, they will suffer yet another waste of resources and another compromise to public safety.   Erika Andiola, Jose Gutierrez, and Eric Byler are back again for the second Coffee Party Immigration radio show.  First hour guests will include Syrian-American immigrant and freedom fighter Wasim Entabi, and Colombian immigrant/filmmaker/singer-songwriter Andres Useche.     Join our daily Immigration Conversation and help suggest topics for our radio show!

"We seek the truth and speak the facts." Why is it so hard to mine the facts from the spin, opinion, and rhetoric that passes for journalism today? What do you do to find information you trust? We are going to begin a conversation about what has happened to make this misinformation soup we live in today, and look at what needs to be done to restore our faith in reporting and media in America. Join us at 12 noon Pacific (3pm Eastern) at 646-929-2495 or click the link to listen in live or on pod cast later.

"Speaking of America" Tonight-"What's Next for Unite Women?" | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 02:05:00

Though last week's march & rally has ended, the fight continues as UniteWomen.org plots the course for their next battle. What connection is there between Citizens United, the "Super PACs" born by that ruling, and this growing movement of women and their supporters? Are the attacks against women's rights, contraception & health issues a reality? Is it a mostly partisan effort by the right, and if so, why? We will speak with Karen Teegarden & Desiree Jordan, the UniteWomen.org founders, about how they see it, and what will be the next focus of attention for their organization? ALSO, we will hear from those that were at various marches across the U.S. this last weekend. Tune in, call in! 8pm PT/11pm ET   "What's on Your Mind?" Every Monday evening we open the phone lines to whatever America wants to talk about. Politics, Environment, Culture, Social Issues, Local, National, even International.  The Bottom Line with Jessica English Sundays at 5 pm ET | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:30:00

On our next episode of The Bottom Line, Jessica English interviews a friend of the Coffee Party family, Bill Moyer, artist, activist, and visionary behind the Backbone Campaign. The Backbone Campaign and the Coffee Party have worked together on our 2010 convention, our 2010 participation in the Rally to Restore Sanity, our 2011 For the People Summit, our 2011 Citizens Intervention rally, and the 2012 Occupy the Courts event.  But today, Bill is in the news for his work in his own backyard in Vashon Island, Washington. Kim Murphy of the Los Angeles Times reports. Harmon and Moyer were talking one day in 2009 about how to create a coal-free zone on the island. They needed to help people weatherize their homes, but none of the three Wall Street banks on the island wanted to make those kinds of loans except as home equity loans. "We need a credit union," Harmon said. A community survey showed widespread enthusiasm, but then the four-member steering committee began crunching numbers. It needed at least $1 million up front to insure the deposits and guarantee the first two years of expenses. "We got to this crossroads where we either needed an angel or a partner. And as organizers, we were not interested in creating models where you need an angel, or are only successful in highly privileged communities," Moyer said.   Join Jessica English on Coffee Party Radio from 5 PM to 7:30 PM eastern time each Sunday.

This Thursday's show will turn our attention to life after the Unite Women Rallies across the country. How do we move forward toward the the America we seek? How do we impact the social, economic, political, and religious challenges that we face every day as individuals and as communities? How do we support one another? These and more questions will be answered by you if you call in 646-929-2495.

"Speaking of America" Tonight, "Exposing the NDAA" | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 03:00:00

"It can't happen here!..... or can it?" The country has been declared a “battlefield” due to the “War on Terror”, making it possible for citizens to be detained indefinitely by your own nation’s military. You have no access to your family or legal assistance. You may even be sent to a foreign country for interrogation using “techniques” not allowed in your own country.  It can’t happen here? According to parts of the recent National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), it appears it can. Our featured guest this Monday is Daniel Johnson, who earlier this year founded the organization, P.A.N.D.A. (People Against the NDAA) to inform people and unite them to combat this Orwellian legislation. Join in the conversation!   "What's on Your Mind?" Every Monday evening we open the phone lines to whatever America wants to talk about. Politics, Environment, Culture, Social Issues, Local, National, even International. The direction of the dialogue is up to you! The host and guests take your questions and comments live. Civil Discourse Lives on "Speaking of America" Monday evenings @ 8pm PST / 11pm EST. Today, The Bottom Line:  Are we being effective in our efforts? Also, listen in for a special invitation, or check it out here, then call us and give us your thoughts!

"Police, Cameras, the People" on Politics Done Right | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:22:00

Eric Byler guest hosts while Egberto Willies stands up for America's mothers, sisters, and daughters at the Texas state capitol.  Egberto will be calling in from the "team bus" on his way from Kingwood, TX to the rally in Austin. OUR GUEST: Carlos Miller was arrested in early Feburary while trying to document a police crackdown on Occupy Miami.  Now, as he reports in Pixiq.com, a bipartisan vote in the Connecticut State Senate has approved a bill that would allow citizens to sue police officers who arrest them for taking photos or video in public.  As the number of people who carry cameras on their person increases, there have been increasing incidents in which officers arrested people for documenting law enforcement activities.  Legislation is needed to clarify the rights of officers and the rights of citizens. Politics Done Right With Egberto Willies: Join us on Saturdays from 12:00 Noon CST to 2:00 PM CST.
