On this episode of World Cafe Words and Music from WXPN, David Dye's guest is William Tyler. The Nashville based guitarist made his solo debut in 2010 after getting his start playing with the band Lambchop. During his recent touring, he sought out back roads and discovered a different side of America, which led to his new album, Modern Country. Tyler is in the studio with David to talk about the record today, and plays live.

Along with four of their own records, they've since collaborated with a number of rappers, like Ghostface Killah and Mick Jenkins, which the band talks about today. And they'll play new music from their album, IV, live.

They were immediately popular when they debuted in 2007, led by Alex Ebert and Jade Castrinos, who has since left the group. On the band's new album PersonA, many of the songs deal with Ebert's attempts to reinvent the Edward Sharpe character he created. As we'll hear in this interview, his expectations weren't met when major label Capitol Records initially released the record, and now the reissue is out on ATO. They developed a cult following with their 1983 self-titled debut, and as word eventually spread, the record went gold four years later. We Can Do Anything, released in May, is their first new material since 2000. Today, original members Gordon Gano and Brian Ritchie perform before a live studio audience, and they discuss the band's early days.

The Nashville singer-songwriter is a Grand Ole Opry member, and has been making records since around the time she joined in 2000. Her new one, Exodus of Venus, follows a period of great upheaval in her life, including deaths in the family and divorce. The music is darker and rocks more than previous releases, as well hear in today's live set, and Cook talks about the writing process for the album.

David Dye is joined by Peter, Bjorn and John on this episode of World Cafe Words and Music from WXPN. The Swedish pop rock band landed a huge hit with their 2006 song, "Young Folks," and after a couple breaks recently to focus on separate projects, they're back with the new album, Breakin' Point. Today, we'll find out about their "more is more" approach to the record, involving a number of different producers, and Peter, Bjorn and John play live.

John Doe is David Dye's guest on this episode of World Cafe Words and Music from WXPN. As co-founder of the band X, he was a major influence in the L.A. punk scene in the '70s. Doe offers his personal account of that era in his new book, Under the Big Black Sun, and he also has a new solo album, called The Westerner. We'll hear about both projects in today's interview, as well as a live studio performance.

The Seratones, from Shreveport, Louisiana, join David Dye on World Cafe Words and Music from WXPN. They were friends for ten years before forming a band in 2013, led by the charismatic singer, A.J. Haynes. Although their music has been categorized as blues-rock, they consider themselves more of a punk band as we'll learn in today's interview. Plus, The Seratones perform a set from their buzzworthy debut, Get Gone, live in the studio.

From Madrid, Spain, Hinds join David Dye on World Cafe Words and Music from WXPN. The garage rock band released their debut, Leave Me Alone, in January and just wrapped up their first U.S. tour.
