Paleo-Cinema Podcast
Summary: A great podcast about movies before 1980, crime, exploitation, classics, science fiction, exploitation and other genres. I look at movies trying to understand what makes them tick, where they come from and to do cinematic archaeology on film.

Chinatown. The back to 1968 for a western that always makes me cry, Will Penny, directed by Tom Gries and starring Charlton Heston, Joan Hackett and Donald Pleasance. For this one, I look at Burt Lancaster's first swashbuckling movie, the Jacques Tourneur directed The Flame and The Arrow also starring Virginia Mayo and Nick Cravat, then we go to film noir territory for Joseph Losey's The Prowler starring Van Heflin and Evelyn Keyes. Both good movies in their own way, but very different. Support The Podcast With A Micropayment.

This time it's glorious technicolor, breathtaking cinemascope and stereophonic sound with Ernst Lubitsch's 1939 comedy of politics and manners, Ninotschka starring Greta Garbo and Melvin Douglas and then the musical remake of it, 1957's Silk Stockings starring Fred Astaire, Cyd Charisse and Peter Lorre.
