SermonIndex.net Classics Podcast
Summary: The work and ministry of SermonIndex can be encapsulated in this one word: Revival. Concepts such as Holiness, Purity, Christ-Likeness, Self-Denial and Discipleship are hardly the goal of much modern preaching. Thus the main thrust of the speakers and articles on the website encourage us towards a reviving of these missing elements of Christianity
On the heels of writing and sharing, 'When Evil Comes in Like a Flood' which addressed the rise of evil in our nation, and the response needed by the church, this word comes forth. It will be revealed in eternity of how many times God warned us, gave us wake up calls, for what was coming, but we missed the warning signals. I believe our nation, and particularly the church is at this cross road now. God has sent alarming signs to us to show us the path we are on and what is coming. And unless a proper response is done by the church, we will go down in the history books as, 'having eyes to see, but could not see; having ears to hear, but could not hear'. Brethren I beseech you take notice of these words and let us respond now, while there is still time, before the 'night cometh when no man can work'.
Jim Cymbala shares about how it is very dangerous and grieving to the Lord to trust in our own means and methods in the Church. He clearly shows that we must trust in the work of the Holy Spirit, no method works except God. God works in many ways and desires to get all the glory. May we in North America look towards God afresh for His Spirit's leading in the work of His Gospel and Church.
Carter Conlon shares a powerful prophetic message to the Church of Jesus Christ in North America. God is calling for those who are weak and are willing to Trust Him fully. God is calling believers to realize they do the work of the Church in the arm of the flesh. Brother Carter gives a clear call for the Church to get back to the place of prayer in the prayer meeting. God is waiting for us to be directed by Him again in everything.
God is looking for men and women that are not seeking to glorify themselves, but to give glory to God. People that begin to take glory for themselves soon become unusable by God. God can set us aside in a hurry. We should have no personal ambitions for greatness if we want to be used by God.
For the Scripture declares: “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him.” The question is, are we weak enough for God to call and use us? Are we empty of all the traditions of religious men so that we can learn from the Lord Himself? This is the way of the Lord. God is looking for a Gideon’s army of those that are willing to trust fully in His power and not in any might or power of their own. God uses nobodies that will trust Him implicitly and fully. Are you going to be part of this Gideon’s army today?
E.A. Johnston shares a powerful prophetic message on the state of the American Church and the current apostasy. He shares on how churches have been influenced by the world and the pulpits have lost the seriousness of the fear of the Lord. He states that churches can now damn people and not save them when they do not preach an pure gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of the apostate church speaks of the gospel of comfortable christianity.
This is not so much a teaching as it is the groanings of a burdened heart to exalt God above man to His rightful place in revival. Campbell shared several practical "principles that govern spiritual quickening." The differences between a God-sent revival and the man-centered evangelistic means of his day are truly heart-searching for anyone engaged in work to save men's souls. Since God's sovereignty does not nullify man's responsibility, Campbell admonished his hearers to be "agents of revival" that take God up on "His covenant engagement" in prayer and staying close to the heart of the Shepherd.
Brother Edgar shares a convicting message from the exhortation of brother Paul the Apostle to be a living sacrifice. He shares the old Testament type of what a sacrifice is and how the Lord is calling us in the New Covenant to be a sacrifice for our Lord. He shares many sins and reasons why we do not allow ourselves to be a sacrifice.
In these last days, God is doing a work that will impact the world. He is training a holy remnant that will be solely dedicated to God and His work during these last days. God is raising up a people who are committed to him and his cause who are a holy remnant, and who are steadfast and sure of their God. Eli was judged soft on sin and allowed wickedness in the tabernacle at Shiloh; even his own sons. Today, the church world is a laughing stock because of wickedness in the house of God, there is no power or spiritual authority, no presence of the Lord in many churches. But there is an unseen remnant of people, who would surprise you, because they are not prominent, or well known, but they are shut in with and hearing a word from God. And the word is prepare, for judgment is coming.
Brother Steve shares a powerful burdened message from the Lord particularly to the Church in America. He shares a prophetic call to repentance for believers to leave Sodom and Gomorrah in their hearts. There is a great need for preaching on sin, powerful prophetic messages that will lay hearts bare before a Holy God. Judgment day will come for all, we must live in light of it.
Brother Zac shares about New Covenant Churches that hold the truth and mystery of the Gospel. These truths only come through revelation from the Holy Spirit from God. There is a great difference to build a Church simply on good ideas and fellowship or on revelation from God. He explains on the body of Christ work in local bodies a fellowship where there is life.
Brother E.A. Johnston speaks on the silence of the Church in the midst of a sin depraved society. He speaks of a time of persecution coming in North America to the Church. Worldliness has prevailed in the Church and no power of the Spirit present. There is a time needed of great repentance for the Church of God.
Brian Long shares a powerful message on the Humility of Christ. He reads this message on a prayer revival conference call. Hear afresh the humility of our precious Lord and how this challenges us to follow in His ways. Brian Long is the pastor of Cornerstone Community Church of Barnsdall and can be contacted at: barnsdallcornerstone.com
It began when Pastor Steve felt the Lord impress a message into his heart which he in turn translated into his own vernacular: "Christians are crazy if they don't immerse themselves in My Word while they still can." The world is becoming increasingly darker. Random murders and bizarre weather patterns are becoming commonplace. But the "perilous times" of the last days are not physical but spiritual. Satan's power to deceive and seduce are growing every day. It is critical that we spiritually prepare ourselves.
Brother K.P. Yohannan shares powerful principles on how to work in God's spiritual kingdom. There is a great need to see God's work as God sees it. And be a part of God's work in God's way. There are many timeless thoughts and ideas in this message that will help any ministry or fellowship to continue in God's grace and purposes.
