Issu d’une famille de musiciens, guitaristes pour la plupart, Mickael “Moog” (surnom issu de la légendaire gamme de synthétiseurs analogiques…) s’initie très tôt à la musique, mais ne suivra pas la voie familiale …. Fan de Jean-Michel Jarre et des synthétiseurs, le chemin est d’ores et déjà tout tracé…. Ca sera la musique électronique…. Au début des années 90, après avoir acquis son tout premier ordinateur (un AMIGA 1200….), il compose ses premiers morceaux sous d’antiques logiciels à programmation hexadécimale tels que Protracker ou Octamed…. Influencé à l’époque par le label Bonzaï Records, des artistes tels que Laurent Garnier et le son du légendaire Underground du Club « Tap Too » d’Epernay (51), il travaille son oreille et développe son sens de la production musicale, jusqu’à acquérir son premier PC et son tout premier séquenceur, Cubase, qui le suivra pendant des années…. Après une intermède Goa/Psytrance en 1995 / 1996, style découvert en club lors de son service militaire en Allemagne, et via des émissions telles que Trance Max et Cybertrance sur Fun Radio, Mickael , sous l’influence et les conseils d’un ami musicien , développe sa technique aux claviers, suit des cours de piano et de solfège, et empile les synthétiseurs et machines en tous genres… Sa connaissance aboutie de Cubase et de la norme MIDI lui permet ainsi de créer ses premiers morceaux, entièrement réalisés sur du hardware…. Début des années 2000, l’essor du mouvement Trance l’influence énormément, principalement grâce aux shows « A State Of Trance » d’Armin Van Buuren. Il s’initiera alors au DJing fin des années 2000 grâce à un ami possesseur de platines Pioneer CDJ1000…. Il réalise alors le fossé existant entre les contraintes liées à la production musicale et le DJing… Mickael investit dans 4 CDJ et une table Pioneer, et se mets donc à apprendre et travailler les techniques de mix, sans pour autant délaisser les évolutions technologiques liées à la production…. Début 2010, l’évolution du son Trance vers un style plus « electro » est un cap majeur… Largement influencé par des artistes tels que Sander Van Doorn, W&W, Ummet Ozcan, Leon Bolier ou Orjan Nilsen, Mickael travaille et développe encore sa technique aux platines, affine son identité musicale, et se remet à travailler de manière plus régulière sur les aspects production dans un style orienté plus Tech Trance / Prog House & EDM.…. Mickael crée ainsi son Podcast en 2010, principalement dédié au son Trance tous styles confondus. This podcast started out as a self help podcast for moms trying to find balance in motherhood and business but morphed into a documentation of Crystal and Sean Escobar's journey out of the Mormon church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). The Podcast has been therapeutic on so many levels for its hosts. They vulnerably share their pitfalls and triumphs as they work to deconstruct a lifetime of indoctrination from the LDS church which they exited in the Spring of 2018. Sexual shame, marriage, parenting, science, spirituality, personal development, healing, sex abuse, are some of the topics they focus on. Together, the Escobars founded the Mormon Enlightenment community on Facebook which they started in August of 2018. One year later there was 3500 members. Participating in the community has proven to be the silver lining to an otherwise traumatic experience. Mormon Enlightement is also comprised of an Instagram page, and YouTube channel. They feel passionate about doing their part among many amazing pioneers like John Dehlin, who featured them on Mormon Stories Podcast. Their goal around all of this is to normalize leaving the church, and to make it safe and acceptable for their children to be non-Mormon in a predominantly Mormon world. Crystal and Sean Escobar are down to earth people who grew up in the heart of Mormonism in the Salt Lake Valley. They were married in 2004 and have 4 children. In 2007, they became the youngest millionaires in Isagenix, an international health and wellness company. Having achieved unparalleled success in their industry, they were able to retire at the age of 35. Since 2011 they have divided their time between living half the year in Salt Lake and the other half in Saint George. Crystal’s family is pioneer stock. She served a mission to Germany in 2002. What is curious is that as of 2019, the majority of her side of the family, which is quite large, is out of the Church. Crystal is the founder of the Wannabe Balanced brand, which has presence on all social media platforms, as well as an ongoing podcast, a Blog and periodic Live Events. She is also a published author of the book “My Life as a WannaBeBalanced Mom” and has been featured on many local news media stations. Sean’s parents were both first generation converts. Sean’s family, much smaller in comparison, are all still very active and believing. In February of 2018 Sean published a recording between him and the man who had sexually abused him as a child in 1993. That same year the abuse took place, Sean’s perpetrator was offered employment at BYU and stayed on as a Professor of Film for 6 years immediately thereafter. That man enjoyed a prestigious professional career as an LDS Film maker and was also the Director of the most recent Temple Endowment Videos. Those videos were hastily abandoned by the Church one month prior to the story breaking. The 25 year old abuser story went viral and was featured on the cover of the New York Times. Another victim, a child, came forward and the perpetrator was sentenced to 6 years to life in prison in the summer of 2019. Sean has become a powerful advocate for stoping child sexual abuse by giving victims the courage to come forward.

I am your host Dr. Tarang Patel, a practicing diagnostic radiologist in Phoenix, AZ.

I started this podcast as a way to share knowledge about financial matters as they relate to health care professionals. We spent many years learning about the science and art of providing patient care but most of us have relatively little knowledge about reaching financial well being. I know that I had no formal training in setting up investment accounts, negotiating contracts, buying insurance, buying real estate, etc. I just learned by reading and also by making many mistakes. Health care professionals are trusted to take put their patients needs first and we in turn assume everyone in other fields work the same way. Unfortunately this is not always true.

By talking about these topics, I hope we can reduce the many financial mistakes that prior generations of doctors have made. Those physicians were able to overcome these mistakes because of shorter training periods, less debt, and they were more likely to be in private practice. Today we no longer have those luxuries and many of us have significant debt burdens. The good news is that we also have access to information that the prior generation never had.

A little background about me. As I said before I am a practicing radiologist in Phoenix, AZ. I went to undergrad at Indiana U. (Go Hoosiers), medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (Now AT Still Univ) in Missouri, moved east and did my radiology residency at New York Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan. I then moved west to serve my Air Force commitment at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV. I then did a fellowship in Body/Musculoskeletal Imaging at Mayo Clinic Arizona. Since I finished training I have been in a hospital employed group for the last 6 years.

I have always enjoyed learning about finance and have read (listened to) many of the financial books. I also spent time reading on the bogleheads.org forum which I found to be a valuable source of information. Finally I just observed that many of my colleagues and I had the same questions about relatively basic financial matters but it was difficult to find clear answers.
