He is author of the Fire Engineering book and video series Mastering the Fire Service Assessment Center, which focuses on strategy and tactics and the Fire Engineering DVD series Mastering Fireground Command: Calm the Chaos! Chief Kastros is an FDIC instructor, teaching fireground tactics and leadership/team building for fire departments throughout the United States. He spent four seasons on a Type 1 incident management team, and 10 years as a FEMA USAR Task Force Manager, deploying to New York on 9/11.
