The Interdependence Project : 21st Century Buddhism show

Summary: This podcast features a lecture by Acharya Eric Spiegel titled "The Terma (Revealed Treasure) Tradition of Shambhala." It was recorded on October, 2010 in New York City. In this talk, Acharya Eric Spiegel teaches on the Shambhala Buddhist path. Central to the Shambhala approach to practice is moving students through the three yanas (or vehicles) of Tibetan Buddhism (Hinayana, Mahayana, Vajrayana) as well as working with the four characteristics or "dignities" of awakened mind as symbolized by four traditional animals (Tiger - Contentment, Lion - Joy, Garuda - Fearlessness, Dragon - Wisdom). Since 1980 Acharya Eric Speigel has been active in the growth and development of the Shambhala Meditation Center in New York. In addition to teaching the traditional syllabus of the Shambhala Community, Acharya Spiegel teaches on understanding the transitions of life and death, and on relating with the power and energy of wealth from a sane, empowered view point – and on the general lack of insight into this topic that pervades our culture. Eric has also been involved in the Stonewall Community Foundation, and the Queer Dharma and Diamond Metta groups.
