Fat 2 Fit #96 – Healthy for a Lifetime

Fat 2 Fit Radio show

Summary: Last show we shared 125 reasons to exercise. Today on the feature section of the show, you'll see what happens when you put that information to work. We talk to 64 year old body builder Russ Young. He's been working out and living a body builder type lifestyle for 35 years. Find out what benefits he's seen over a lifetime of fitness and what you can do to see the same benefits. In the email and comments, Shannon wrote in about adding a 5th and 6th meal to her diet. She had stopped losing weight. After adding back in more calories to her diet, she started losing again. Ruth is facing some shift work and wants some tips on what to eat and when to workout. Jeff shares some stories of his youth and his experience with working while we are all sleeping. On the Web Report, Russ has an article about how the US Military is possibly facing a shortage of soldiers because we are all too FAT! Apparently their guidelines put a maximum weight on new recruits such that someone, willing to serve in the military, cannot join because of their weight. They call it a threat to national security! Jeff has an article with the best title ever, "Study Predicts Obesity Apocalypse by 2030". Maybe not as ominous sounding as a zombie apocalypse, but exciting sounding none the less. In reality it's about our growing waistlines and that by 2030, we may actually see 100% of the US population either overweight or obese. Links Mentioned in the Show: What ever happened to FitBit? Ruth uses MyFitnessPal It's an obesity apocalypse! Too Fat to Fight Russ Young on Bodyspace Recipe of the Week: Shredded Broccoli Stalks Homework: The homework this week is to buy or find a piece of clothing that is just a little bit too small for you. It could be a shirt that is a little too tight for your comfort or a pair of pants that you just can't do up. Find something that you want to be able to fit into in the next 8 weeks for summer. This is your short term goal clothing, or motivation clothing. When you are at home and have the desire to eat a snack that you don't really need, put on that clothing, look in the mirror and ask yourself what you want more.
