(2012-11-06) Daily Mass for the Dead: Purgatory is Real

Audio Sancto show

Summary: Sermon titled "Daily Mass for the Dead: Purgatory is Real" given on Tuesday November 6, 2012. Size: 4.6 MB; duration: 13:28. Purgatory is generally denied these days; one explanation (by Cardinal Ratzinger before he was elected Pope) is that nearly everyone today believes themselves to be a victim and entitled to benefits, such as heaven after death. Faith and reason tell us that there is a middle ground between heaven and hell where the souls of the saved but not yet purged of the stain of sin must be perfected. Saint Augustine says: "The fires [of Purgatory] are more grievous than anything that man can suffer in this life whatsoever." Always remember to pray for the Poor Souls in Purgatory.
