Summary: - Ps. 34:1-8 - Biblical expressions of worship - your participation and presence in church and corporate worship matters - God is seeking a certain type of worshipper (John 4:19-24) - Biblical worship is spiritual in nature (1 Cor. 2:1-16) - we filter everything we do through one of 3 lenses: the natural man, the carnal man, or the spiritual man (Matt. 16:13-15) - God is not an "a la carte menu" - Hebrew words for praise: - Halal - a primary Hebreww root word for praise. Our word "hallelujah" comes from this base word. It means "to be clear, to shine, to boast, show, to rave, celebrate, to be clamorously foolish." (Ps. 113:1, 150:1, 149:3) - Yadah - a verb with a root meaning, "the extended hand, to throw out the hand, therefore to worship with extended hands." According to the Lexicon, the opposite meaning is "to bemoan, the wringing of the hands." Yadah comes from two root words: "YAD" which means the open hand, direction, power, and "AH" which has reference to Jehovah. Together they are rendered "Hands to God." (Gen. 29:31-35, Ps. 7:17, 2 Chron. 20:21, Ps. 63:1, 107:15)
