Spencer Thomas and the Club Casualties...We are the Supafly

Spencer Thomas and the Club Casualties show

Summary: CONTENT HEADS UP: This episode is much different from the past ones...disco house this time. As some know, the original Club Casualties, before it was a radio show or a podcast, was a bi weekly disco house after hours party that we (that's the royal 'we') started throwing in the early (more like mid) 2000s when ST was almost out of high school. Basically we didnt promote at all, just started with about 20 friends in attendance on the first one and through word of mouth it spread to a few hundred over a couple years. We threw it in sub leased office spaces or small 750 person capacity warehouses...or wherever we could find a small business owner to let us use their space for $400 that week. Cover charge was always low...music started at 1:45 and usually kicked people out when the sun comes up; nothing worse than driving home with a blaring ball of fire staring at you when you've had no sleep. The lineup usually consisted of Spencer Thomas and guests every week with the "Club Casualties" tagline mainly referring to the actual people coming to party, since most were headed home from the clubs. With Phoenix's 2am closing time it left a nice void for us to fill for patrons. After looking at old zip files we found part of a recording of one of the nights. We tried to clean up some of the audio quality as best we could in ableton and tried to sync it up as best we could (for some reason the guy recording did it on 3 different channels...fuckin guy). This nights recording was towards the end of the after hours couple year run; many factors contributed to its demise, though low attendance was never an issue. ST decided to pull out the collection of Discofunk white labels, and do a straight up Discofunk night....so if its not your thing, sorry, and if it is, rock it out fuckers. Thanks for listening... the ST.... motherfuckers, thats me... tracks...all disco house...all Discofunk white labels (our favorite).
