Summary: Joye grew up, on and off, the Cheyenne River Sioux reservation. She was raised as a Baha'i and used her religious background to spread the teachings of unity and diversity among the Sioux people. She provides an interesting historical perspective on native American history. To this day she works to preserve the native Lakota ceremonies.
