The Drive with Alan Taylor show

Summary:
Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com is back with more automotive news. A study was done in regards to how many miles electric vehicles vs. gas powered vehicles drive in a year. EV’s drive around 9000 miles in comparison to gas powered that drives around 12,758 miles. Range anxiety plays a part in the less miles driven for the EV’s. The most driven car’s in the electric vehicle category would be the Tesla X, in fact the top four EV’s driven are from Tesla. Good range and a good charging network is the reason for that. Subscriptions are the next hot topic. Karl says this younger generation is built around subscriptions, therefore, it has become the new norm for the manufacturers to offer them. If you want to increase power, subscribe, if you want to listen to your stereo, subscribe, you want warm seats, subscribe! Continued revenue for manufacturers to make up for their loss in the manufacturing of EV’s.

Up next is contributor George Kennedy III – George Kennedy is a co-founder of Cartender.com, and the Vice President of the New England Motor Press Association. He contributes to U.S. News & World Report, CarGurus, Forbes Wheels, and here on The Drive. He is driving the 2023 Nissan Z. George say’s its been his favorite car to drive this year. He also got to test drive the 2023 Nissan Ariya, a small electric cross over with decent cargo space and a max range of 304 miles. Even with decent range, George says, there still isn’t enough infrastructure to accommodate EV’s.

The next contributor is Lauren Fix – Editor in-Chief for Car Coach Reports, is here for a quick pit stop. Lauren says there is a study that shows it takes five years to recoup your investment in an electric car as the manufacturers are making it difficult for the consumer to go anywhere else but to them. Lauren says in this technologically advanced world, fifteen minute cities and electric cars are all about control.

Closing the show with Alan today is contributor and friend Brian Moody -Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com and KBB.com.
