Meet the federal chemist who made detecting illegal opioids faster and safer

Federal Drive with Tom Temin show

Summary: One of the difficulties of controlling illegal opioids is that they come mixed with other substances. Sometimes detecting that can take hours of chemical analysis and pose dangers to law enforcement lab people. Dr. Edward Sisco is a chemist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, who developed a way to cut the analysis time from hours to seconds. He's a finalist in this year's Service to America Medals Program and spoke with the Federal Drive's Tom Temin. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
