Don’t Depend on You

Reaching Your World with Luis Palau show

Summary: Have you ever encountered a problem that seemed to weigh you down? I know I have. One time, while driving somewhere out of state with my wife Pat, I refused to look at a map because I was certain I knew where I was going… the problem was, I only thought I knew where I was going, and I ended up getting us very lost. I had to semi-apologize and humbly ask my wife for the map, which got us back on track. I think in life we can all be this way. We are reluctant to ask for help because we want to depend on ourselves. But what happens when our intuition is wrong? What happens when we don’t really know where we’re going? As followers of the Lord Jesus, we are called to trust the Lord first and foremost. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight”. This means, instead of doing it on our own, we’re supposed to look to God for guidance, and then we act. We move. But first, lots of time with God is essential. This week, share this encouraging truth with someone who feels lost or is lost. Point them to Jesus—our ultimate map and guide. This is Luis Palau.
