Harrison Maurus - Medals, Records, and Batman Pajamas

The USA Weightlifting Podcast show

Summary: This week on the USA Weightlifting Podcast, we’re speaking with one of the world’s best Weightlifters, Harrison Maurus. Weighing in at 77 kg, and only 17 years old, Harrison secured Team USA’s first Men’s Weightlifting World Medal in 20 years at the 2017 IWF Weightlifting World Championships. Just a few months later, Maurus beefed up to the next weight class and became the youngest and lightest American weightlifter in history to clean and jerk 200 kgs in competition. We do not have the character count allowance to list all of the other medals he’s won and records he’s broken (national and international on both), so we’ll have to leave it at that to fill you in on what’s actually discussed in this episode… Harrison takes us through his early gymnastics and powerlifting career before he found Olympic Weightlifting through Coach Kevin Simons. We also dive into discipline, mindset, and some visualization techniques Harrison uses to prep for competition.
