Born in Kurri Kurri Australia, debuted for the Newcastle Knight's in 1997, winning premiership's in 97 and 01. Also in 01 played 3 games for the NSW Blue's State of Origin team. In 2013 Mark was diagnosed with Brain Cancer and fought hard to recover. 2014 he established the Mark Hughes foundation to make awareness of Brain Cancer. As of today MHF has raised over 20 million dollars. The NRL also developed a Beanie for Brain Cancer round and all proceeds going to the foundation.
