The Entertainment Engine show

Summary:
In Episode 15 we look into synchronisation (SYNC) music placements for Film, TV, and Gaming for artists and bands. The SYNC world for Film, TV and the Gaming industry is very complex – Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and everyone sort of knows what it is. In this show, we have put together some of the most important terms you’ll want to know when it comes to licensing your music for sync (TV, Film, Video Games, and Adverts). This will include from the composition, which is any music as it exists as a piece of intellectual property basically, the melody, progression, lyrics, rhythmic pattern, or any combination would be considered composition, a master is a recording of a performance of a composition. The actual, tangible, recording. If you compose a piece of music for piano and five different pianists separately make recordings of that composition, you now have five different masters of ONE composition.

The session will also include taking a look at; Publishing and Administration, Covers, Samples, Splits, SYNC fees, Royalties, Pros - (Performing rights organizations), Pre-Clear, One-Stop, Sub-Publishers, MFN - (Most Favoured Nations), and Publishing administration and exclusivity. The industry has changed and is changing, this is an area of continued growth - but as an indie artist, musicians or band, you have to be prepared for this area, and you can't expect to land a SYNC from day one, as it's a very competitive area and this can take a long time to achieve.

Follow & subscribe to The Entertainment Engine for weekly news & updates.

Twitter @entengine

Facebook www.facebook.com/TheEntertainmentEngine

Instagram @seamless_entertainment

The Entertainment Engine - Website

Seamless Entertainment - Website

The Entertainment Engine - Merch Store

Email the team: podcast@seamlessentertainment.co.uk

Send us a voice message via https://anchor.fm/entertainmentengine/message

The background music was written & produced by BeX & Alan Glass.
