Daily Fill #95: Kevin's Drum Rants: Drum Stick Rant part 1

Drummers I Like Podcast show

Summary:

WELCOME TO THE KEVIN'S RANTS EDITION OF THE DAILY FILL WITH OUR OTHER BEARDED PODCAST HOST MR. KEVIN CIARLELLI
What's going on today?
Hello, it's Kevin with you today for another rant! On this episode, we have our first ever guest on Kevin's Rant. Scott Jackson will be joining us to have a very close look at drumsticks. As a matter of fact, the rant was so long we're going to break it up into two parts.

Today in part one. We will be going over the different types of wood you can expect to find most drumstick manufacturers using these days. The big three types of wood. Maple, Hickory, and Oak. This segment can help build your knowledge of the characteristics of these different types of wood. Scott also touches on some of the exotic woods that some stick makers use.

The next topic we get into is tip shapes and how they can affect the sound and feel of the drumstick. Scott spends a lot of time explaining his take on what you can expect from some of the different types of tip styles. There are quite a few styles but we try our best to break down how you can tell what would best fit several different scenarios.

That concludes our first part on drumsticks. We are really excited to help everyone understand what you can expect in a drumstick just by knowing its parts. In part two of this series, we will be digging into the taper, diameter and sizing, length, and coatings. We can't wait to bring you next week's episode!

Click here to apply for an intern position: SERIOUS INQUIRES ONLY

That's it for today's episode of the daily fill!
