Summary: Best known for his art depicting the wilds of Algonquin Tom Thomson is a Canadian Legend. An influential artist who's name is often thrown in with the Group of Seven, thou he never truly was a member. But of course when talking about Tom Thomson the conversation always turns to the mystery surrounding his death on July 8th 1917 at Canoe Lake. Many books, documentaries, and short films have tried to navigate the theories and controversies surrounding Tom's death but author Barry Brodie took a different approach. In his play and book based on the making of his play Tom Thomson: On The Threshold of Magic Barry explores not Tom's death or life but his afterlife which forces Tom to confront his legacy, the people who helped shape him, and his art.
