Athlete Maestro | The Ultimate Podcast For Young Athletes | Sports Education | Sport Psychology | Mental Toughness | Athlete Development | Mental Training with Tola Ogunlewe show

Summary: We all face struggles and obstacles in life and sports. The biggest difference between those whose names you hear and others is that the athletes you hear about found a way to overcome those challenges. So, the question is how do you overcome challenges in sports? I have been fortunate in my life to connect with Olympic champions, world class coaches and sports professionals so its very rare that i get awed by someone. When it happens, its something special. Losing any ability in your body is terrible enough. I remember when i tore my ACL and i was on crutches for months. I remember coming back into the country and having to be wheeled out on wheel chair because i couldn't walk. Now imagine losing your sight and not being able to see. That happens but you still find a way to be the best athlete you can be. Paralympic world champion, paralympic world record holder and paralympic medalist. You just have to be awed by that. Whatever challenge it is that you face in life and sports, this will inspire you. That's the story of Lex Gillette. Lex lost his sight at the age of 8. Going from seeing the world to not seeing it. Yet that didn't stop him from achieving everything in sports. Lex has won medals at the Paralympic games and World Championships. He even has a world record in the Long Jump.
