Summary: We discuss how motherhood is portrayed in Star Wars. As a movie series focused on father and sons in its first trilogy, Star Wars doesn't leave a lot of room for mothers, but they play important roles, especially in the Prequel Trilogy. In the Old Trilogy, we discuss Aunt Beru's role and Leia's sometimes motherly behaviour. We then look at Shmi Skywalker and Padme in the Prequel trilogy. Finally, we look at Leia in the Sequel Trilogy. We also debate Mara Jade and Leia in Legends.
