Summary: The Republic of CHAZ is the world’s newest independent country. Located within the Capitol Hill area of Seattle, Washington, the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) took just one week to change its name to Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP). So with two names like CHAZ and CHOP, what could possibly go wrong? To be blunt, everything. Everything can and has gone wrong. Fights, screaming, and fires have broken out in this sovereign nation that has also already requested foreign aid in the form of cigarettes, zip ties, and pizza. The real question is how long this “country” will exist before that which they are against—the police—will be allowed in to do their jobs and end the chaos.
