Pence: Driver Distractions Not New, Just Deadlier

Summary: Distracted Driving is not a new phenomenon. Before cell phones and ipods there were radios and noisy kids in the back seat. But in the past few years, distracted driving has taken a deadly turn. With the advent and mainstreaming of texting, in-car distractions now not only rob our attention from the road, but require hands to be taken from the steering wheel. As a result, TxDOT and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, have partnered to launch the "Talk. Text. Crash." Campaign as part of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of distracted driving, particularly when that distraction is texting.
