Even some true heroes of American history were his friends. I have a feeling THAT won't be in your textbooks! We also talk about Martin Luther. Not MLK. The other guy. Except his name wasn't really Martin Luther. And he wrote theses...but did he actually believe them? And was there any nailing onto doors or anywhere else?
