EP 159 - Prevention and Reversal of the Cognitive Decline of Alzheimer's

Super Woman Wellness by Dr. Taz show

Summary: Alzheimer’s disease can and should be prevented. Dr. Dale Bredesen explains how.In recent years, Alzheimer's disease has affected more and more people and it’s hitting at an earlier age. It’s the third leading cause of death in the United States. Two-thirds of Alzheimer's patients are women. As recently as a few years ago, there was no hope for people diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. However, recent research shows that those who come in early can have a very good prognosis. The key is prevention and early detection.  In addition to genetic testing, adults age 45 and older should have conversations with their physician about lifestyle factors that can cause Alzheimer’s. They should also start getting regular cognoscopies, a test used to evaluate the risk factors that can cause neuro-degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's.  Dr. Dale Bredesen explains that a healthy plant-based diet that’s mildly ketogenic, stress management, and regular sleep patterns can help prevent Alzheimer’s and other neuro-degenerative diseases. Listen as Dr. Dale Bredesen joins Dr. Taz to discuss the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.
