Instead of letting the Israelites go, Pharaoh decided to make their lives even harder! Hadn't God promised to deliver the people out of slavery? If so, why was this happening? God had not forgotten or abandoned His promises. Instead, God allowed Pharaoh to oppose Him, in order to make the point that God alone is in charge of the universe. Nobody can defeat His plan, and the plagues demonstrated that reality. The only question is whether or not we will submit to Him.
