Summary: PFC LaVena Johnson lost her life in Iraq on July 19, 2005 and the U.S. Army ruled her death a suicide. LaVena's father, Dr. John Johnson has said that some mainstream media outlets have investigated the case and found that some of what the U. S. Army has reported did not match the statements of the people cited in the "official" report. Dr. Johnson obtained a CD containing photographs of his daughter's body after her death from the U.S. Army through a Freedom of Information Act request. He says the graphic photographs shows severe injuries to his daughter that do not suggest his daughter committed suicide. Dr. Johnson has said he has given his daughters story, along with evidence to members of the mainstream media but they have chosen to mostly ignore the story. The family is asking the public for assistance in not only emailing or calling their Congressional Representatives, but they are asking the public to call or email the mainstream media in an effort to bring more coverage to LaVena Johnson's case. The only real "mainstream" coverage has been by CBS St. Louis affiliate KMOV and National Public Radio.
