The Story of Johnny Mullins

KOLR10 News Podcast show

Summary: Melinda Mullins sits down to talk with us about her father, Johnny Mullins, a Springfield school janitor and songwriter who penned hits for Porter Wagoner and Loretta Lynn. Johnny attended the Grammy's in 1980 when Emmylou Harris's version of Blue Kentucky Girl was nominated for best country song. Melinda is currently going through boxes of cassette tapes of songs written by Johnny, mostly never heard by anyone until now. She is making digital copies of the music and performing Johnny's songs live around the Ozarks solo, duo with Bo Brown, or with the Layton Hollow Gals. Check out The Johnny Mullins Collection on Facebook as well as this nice blog written by Kaitlyn McConnell for Ozarks Alive http://www.ozarksalive.com/preserving-the-ozarks-melinda-mullins/
