Summary: The world was an arduous place in 1987. Terry Waite, the envoy, becomes a kidnap victim in West Asia until 1991. There were many woes around the world, the sinking of the ferry MS Herald of Free Enterprise, the Hungerford massacre, the "Great Storm", the Remembrance Day Bombing in Northern Ireland and the King's Cross fire. Haven’t we rather heard of these types of things every few years since? Margaret Thatcher became the longest serving British Prime Minister since Lord Liverpool in the early 19th century after securing a third term in office. The world is not moving on people. Anyhoo! This is the UK chart from February that year, Andy Warhol died Feb 23 this year. There were re-entries for some old sixties classics, The Blow Monkeys, Mental As Anything, Eric Clapton and the late Gwen Guthrie all make impressions on this chart. Reminisce, enjoy and make the world troubles go away (for a while anyway!).Enjoy!
