Tithing—a Commandment Even for the Destitute-Lynn G. Robbins

LDS HIGHLIGHTS show

Summary: In this incredibly important talk, Lynn G. Robbins reminds everyone that if given the choice of feeding their family or paying their tithing-they should always pay their tithing. Lynn G. Robbins asks the following questions to prove his point: "Is there a level of poverty so low that sacrifice should not be expected or a family so destitute that paying tithing should cease to be required?" "But how can you ask someone so destitute to sacrifice?" He also says: "One of the first things a bishop must do to help the needy is ask them to pay their tithing." "No bishop, no missionary should ever hesitate or lack the faith to teach the law of tithing to the poor." Again, this just shows that paying your tithing is the most important thing you can do, even more important than feeding your own family. This talk was given in the April 2005 conference for those that want to either listen to it or read it.
