The Law Of Tithing-Earl C. Tingey

LDS HIGHLIGHTS show

Summary: In this powerful talk on tithing, Elder Earl C. Tingey shares the example of Joseph F. Smith's mother, who paid her tithing despite living in complete poverty. Early C. Tingey asks and answers the following question: "Did she prosper? Her son and grandson became presidents of the Church, and her descendants today include a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and many notable Church leaders." This shows that by paying our tithing, our descendants may become great leaders in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He also shares another amazing example of faith and tithing, in regards to a man in Africa, who was unemployed, with 7-8 kids and how he could still pay a full-tithing with 1 out of every 10 of his geese eggs, in order to have an eternal family. Earl C. Tingey makes it clear that anyone can pay tithing, employed, unemployed and that if we don't, we will not be able to have our eternal blessings and families. So, it's very simple; pay your tithing and have a shot at being with your spouse, parents, children for eternity or don't pay your tithing and throw it all away. It's just that simple. This is again a very powerful example of the importance of paying your tithing to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This talk was given in the April 2002 General Conference
