いろはにほへと: Episode 20

Kyotopia show

Summary: The old Japanese syllabary was a poem that translated into English as: "Although its scent still lingers on the form of a flower has scattered away For whom will the glory of this world remain unchanged? Arriving today at the yonder side of the deep mountains of evanescent existence We shall never allow ourselves to drift away intoxicated, in the world of shallow dreams." Is that not EPIC as @%*#? Why would they change it?!?! Anyway... Koyata-sensei is back and she tries to enlighten us about Japanese aesthetics. She sites this poem and the legend of the forty-seven ronin as examples.
