The Canadian Path Scouter Manual provides helpful outlines — templates, really — for investiture ceremonies for Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts. It (rather humorously) does not detail an investiture ceremony for Venturer Scouts, although it does list investiture as one of the various ceremonies that a Venturer Scout Company could perform. And for Rover Scouts, the exact format of the ceremony is left up to the Rovers themselves to decide, though the manual does recommend that the ceremony be preceded by mentoring of the prospective new Rover by an older member of the section, and time for reflection upon the principles of Scouting. Even so, the manual does put forth as mandatory common elements in all investiture ceremonies several elements, including: The saying of the Promise and, optionally, the Law specific to each Section. For older sections, reciting the Motto is also required. The awarding of the youth's new woggle and necker after reciting the above. Some action or words to welcome the new members to the section. What follows, then, is a discussion of different means of investing youth into Scouting, as well as Ken and Colin's own experiences both being invested, and performing investiture ceremonies.
