Summary: Oman hosting Quran Seminar and Contest for Persian Gulf Youth: On November 7, In the Omani capital of Masqat the 22nd Quran and Hadith Competition for the youth of six Arab states is going to start. It is stated that it will be under the patronage of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC). The competition is held in two separate sections of Quran memorization, recitation and Tajweed (articulation rules) and prophetic Hadith memorization for three age groups of 10 to 14, 15 to 18 and 19 to 25. Before reaching it to the final stage of PGCC competition and contest all of the contestants have to go through the qualifying round. The Persian Gulf Cooperation Council is a bloc involving six Arab countries namely United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait with economic and social objectives. Quran Contests in India: Two Quran contests for memorization and recitation were held in September at Bangalore and Mysore (India). Iran’s top Quran reciter Abbas Salimi will be a member of jury of the international Quran contests held in cooperation with Iran Cultural Center in New Delhi. The contest in Bangalore will be held for Iranian students residing in India, and the competition in Mysore, to be held at international level, will be attended by students from Afghanistan, Sudan, Yemen, Maldives and India. Two Quran Centers Open in Qatar: The “Sheikh Abd bin Mohammad Al Sani” Charity Institute in Qatar opened two Quran memorization centers in mosques of Al-Khor city on November 16. According to the media the Quranic Centers one of them named “Ahlul Quran”, opened in “Haya bint Mohammad Al-Shaghiri” and “Ibrahim bin Sa’d Al-Ibrahim” mosques of the city. Around 80 students are registered in these centers and will be supervised by Ibadul Rahman Quranic Center affiliated with the charity institute.A large number of teachers of Quranic sciences and Imams of mosques of Al-Khor will provide the course materials to the centers. The students will be familiarized with various styles of Quran recitation besides memorizing the Quran.
