EP 39: Jenny Boyd

Muses and Stuff Podcast show

Summary:
This week’s episode is all about Jenny Boyd. You may recognize the Boyd name as a popular one in rock and roll history, as she’s sisters with Pattie Boyd (married to George Harrison and Eric Clapton) and Paula Boyd (who dated Eric before Pattie). She was also married to Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac. They first met when they were 15 years old and had an on again off again relationship for 15 years. What you may not know about her is that she has a Ph.D. and is a psychologist and writer who has worked as a therapist and consultant for a treatment centre for emotional, mental and behavioural disorders.

Jenny has lectured on Creativity and through getting her doctorate, interviewed famous musicians for her dissertation which would eventually become one of her books we discuss in this episode: Musicians in Tune: 75 Contemporary Musicians Discuss the Creative Process. Jenny interviews Roseanne Cash, Mick Fleetwood, Joni Mitchell, Michael McDonald, Julian Lennon, Stevie Nicks, Steve Winwood, Keith Richards and George Harrison (just to name 9 out of 75!)

Not only do we discuss her book, but we use her sister, Pattie’s memoir: Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Me to tell you about their upbringing in Kenya and London, as well as Mick Fleetwood’s autobiography Play On: Now, Then and Fleetwood Mac to fill in the rest.

About Jenny, Mick says: “I’d been obsessed with and was utterly in love with Jenny from the first moment I laid eyes on her. I’d see her coming home from school each afternoon as I sat having my breakfast in the window of one of my two favourite cafes in Notting Hill. She was an absolutely gorgeous young girl, the same age as me, but I couldn’t muster the courage to speak to her, let alone ask her out. I was besotted. Jenny and I have been through so much together, including raising our two beautiful daughters, Amelia and Lucy”.

You can find Chanty and Lynx online on Instagram @musesandstuffpodcast and on Twitter @ChantyandLynx
