Summary: The Daily Wake Up for July 6th, 2018: Can Oil Companies Be Sued for Climate Change? Oil companies are in legal battle with nine cities and counties in Colorado, California, Washington, Rhode Island, and New York, to pay for damages as a result of climate change. Exxon and Suncor Energy are being sued for damages from flooding and even lost revenue from shorter ski seasons. The plaintiffs are arguing that public nuisance law should be applied because people aren't able to go about their regular daily lives, inhibited by the nuisance of climate change.
