They are also scaling the pet levels of TAMER pets. Tamers will also scale to the highest level pet on your team. In addition to the update post, Muffinus also wrote one about the philosophy of pet battles. It discusses the idea of them retiring pets (see also, nerfing), to give other pets time to shine in the next expansion.
