62 | Teaching Students with Reactive Attachment Disorders with Nicola Marshall

Trauma Informed Education show

Summary: What do you do when your students don’t trust you? For children who have experienced abuse and neglect, forming trusting attachments to adults and peers can be a challenge. In an effort to not be abused or taken advantage of again, these children develop coping strategies that take the form of attachment disorders - an inability to form meaningful relationships. So how do you teach these children?Today we speak with Nicola Marshall. Nicola is a educator and the founder of the Bravehearts Education. Trained and certified as a life coach, NIcola has spent several 5 years helping others in all walks of life. In May 2008, her life changed when she adopted a sibling group of three. This led her into the world of attachment and trauma with a bang. Living with the realities of children who have experienced trauma has led her to study theories and strategies to help such children. Nicola has authored several books, and has established her consulting agency, Brave Heart Education in West Mindlands in the United Kingdom.
