The Tax Plan: Talking Turkey with Libertarian Economist Bob Murphy - GGW Ep. 010

Government Gone Wild Podcast show

Summary: Happy Thanksgiving week! I’ve got a great episode for you to sink your teeth into over the holiday. If you listen to this episode, you’ll absolutely be prepared for the annual dinner table debate with the liberals in the family. With the proposed tax plan on the tongues of pretty much everyone, I decided to do a deep dive into the subject for you guys. This week’s guest is a true expert on the economy. Economist and libertarian theorist Bob Murphy is a professor at the Free Market Institute of Texas Tech. He shares some awesome, insightful and often hilarious observations on Twitter, so follow him at @bobmurphyecon. In this episode, I get Bob’s perspective on the tax plan. We compare elements of the Senate tax bill versus the House tax bill, and I get Bob to share what he thinks would be the ideal tax policy for our country. There’s a huge problem when fiscally responsible citizens in low-tax states are being forced to subsidize high-tax policies. People get upset when government taxes us on our hard-earned money, then wastefully spends those tax dollars on broken programs and needless wars. And it happens all too often. I hope you enjoy this week’s episode, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
