The money you receive is a natural and direct result of the value you provide. – Bob Burg
When you create value, you become an influencer and pull people towards you. – Bob Burg
It is wise to learn from others, but don’t try to be someone you’re not. – Bob Burg
To ask the question, “Will this make money?” is not a bad question but it is a bad first question. – Bob Burg
[00:03:40] The Law of Value
Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment. Based on the principle of giving, you should seek to constantly and consistently provide value to others. Business is not a matter of how many sales you can get; it’s how much value you can give. People don’t buy from you because you need the money or because you have targets to meet; they buy because they believe they’ll be better off by doing so.
[00:12:58] The Law of Compensation
Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them. Whereas the law of value talks about creating an amazing experience of value in exchange for money, law number two says the more people’s lives you touch with that exceptional value, the more money with which you will be rewarded.
[00:14:06] The Law of Influence
Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first. In the world of the internet, there is a massive amount of competition, and the way to succeed is by getting people to know, like and trust you and your product.
[00:15:03] The Law of Authenticity
The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself. When you are yourself, people are far more likely to want to do business with you and refer you to others. Your market value is the combination of strengths, traits, talents, and characteristics that allow you to bring value in such a way that you will be financially rewarded for it. When you are confident about your value, you become confident about being yourself. You can work with a coach or a mentor to help you recognize your qualities and strengths.
[00:17:48] The Law of Receptivity
The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving. Think about it as you would the process of breathing in and out. To stay alive, you must do both; it is not one or the other. We breathe out by giving and breathe in by receiving. Giving and receiving are not opposite concepts; they’re merely two sides of the same coin. Sometimes at an unconscious level, we associate receiving money with taking advantage of others, but that should not be the case. You give value and receive money.
[00:34:34] Parting Shot
Bob shares a lesson he learned from a mentor. If you want to make a lot of money, don’t have “making money” as your target. Your target is serving others, and when you hit that target, you’ll get a reward in the form of money.
