Summary: In the summer of 1964, Fannie Lou Hamer, Vice-Chair of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, attended and spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Hamer was invited, along with the rest of the MFDP officers, to address the Convention's Credentials Committee about the problems she and others had encountered in attempting to register to vote in Mississippi.
