Episode 032 "Getting Chipped, John Wick’d, i3 Licked, and Other Podcasts Ticked"

digitalSoup - A Hilariously Geeky Podcast show

Summary: It’s a laughter and rant filled week as Usually Dave makes people angry, the guys have some Apple issues while Jason tries out the iOS 11 beta. They tackle the John Wick series, AMD slaps down the i3 and a company called Three Square Market from Wisconsin is asking their employees to volunteer to be microchipped...that sounds like the start of a good sci-fi movie. Since it’s summer, dive right into this episode, the water is fine! ----more---- Weekly Riddle: Tom and his younger sister were fighting. Their mother was tired of the fighting and decided to punish them by making them stand on the same piece of newspaper in a way that they couldn’t touch each other. How did she accomplish this? Answer at the end of the episode! Apple accidentally leaked iPhone 8 specsIn what might be the biggest face-palm, oops, Steve Urkel “did I do that” moment by Apple since the Touch Bar leaked via nearly the same methods, they accidentally released specs for some of the fancy new features and design of the upcoming “iPhone 8” that should be announced in September.   AMD Releases the Ryzen 3 to the world! Last thursday AMD released two new CPUs in their Ryzen line, the lower end Ryzen 3 1200 and the higher end Ryzen 3 1300x.  Both are four core chips without multi-threading and are less expensive (although not by much) then their Intel i3 counterparts.  Intel’s i3 does edge out both chips in single threaded applications (do those still exist) but the Ryzen 3 does best then with multi-threaded applications.  It appears AMD now offers fantastic performance at every Ryzen tier. Microchipping employeesThis news broke a week or so ago about a Wisconsin company, Three Square Market, is now asking its employees to volunteer for an RFID microchip to be implanted in their hands, between the thumb and forefinger.
