Mozart and Stravinsky - by Robert Kirzinger and Richard Dyer, narrated by Eleanor McGourty

BSO 2018/19 Season - Concert Previews show

Summary: Listen to the Concert Preview! Mozart wrote his Concerto for Flute and Harp during his famous trip to Paris in 1778-79. His only work for harp, this elegant concerto was commissioned by a French duke for his harp-playing daughter. BSO principal flute Elizabeth Rowe and principal harp Jessica Zhou are soloists. Stravinsky's Petrushka was the second of the great trilogy of works (with Firebird and Rite of Spring) the composer wrote for the Ballets Russes in the early 1910s. Petrushka is a kaleidoscopic, visionary succession of dramatic tableaux.
