Summary: The Context of White Supremacy hosts the premeir study session on Frantz Fanon's 1961 favorite, The Wretched of the Earth. Born in Martinique in 1925, Fanon became a globally renown psychiatrist and committed much of his time and energy to obtaining Algerian independence from French colonial domination. He also wrote Black Skin, White Mask, which is a psychoanalysis of the perversions and neurosis of sexual activity between Whites and non-white people. Importantly, Fanon himself married a White woman. The writer and psychiatrist died from leukemia the same year The Wretched of the Earth was published. Fanon's last work is widely viewed as an "indictment of the violence and savagery of colonialism" against non-white people world wide. The book examines the violence necessary to maintain a global empire of racism and the merits of counter-violence as means of permanently resolution. Large numbers of Whites heap praise on Fanon's work, and a number of university classes include this book on their syllabus.
