#183 - Daniel Cormier

The Life of Dad Show show

Summary: Tommy Riles and Art Eddy wrap up 2015 with highlights from each of their Christmas pasts and favorite New Year's Eve memories. Then, the guys bring on UFC fighter, Daniel Cormier. Daniel Cormier is not only UFC's Light Heavyweight Champion, but he has been a two-time Olympic wrestler and six-time U.S. Open National Champion. Even with Daniel's success there still has been a few challenges in his way. At one point Cormier UFC career he had an undefeated 14-0 record when he faced Jon Jones at UFC 182 in Las Vegas. Cormier gave Jones, who was the champion at that time, all he could handle, but Jones won the fight. Still with grit and determination Cormier wanted another chance at the title. Cormier asked UFC President, Dana White to fight Anthony Johnson, who is arguably the hardest puncher in the UFC. White put aside any concerns he may have had and granted Cormier a second shot in the span of four months. In UFC 187 Cormier reached the pinnacle of the UFC. He pushed Johnson against the cage and controlled the match on the mat, using his weight to tire out Johnson before he applied the decisive submission hold. Cormier worked his way up the ladder in an MMA career that began in 2009, scoring victories over Dan Henderson, Roy Nelson, Frank Mir and Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva. It culminated in a title belt that was well earned and well deserved. Outside of the octagon Cormier loves being a dad. He has a daughter and a son. From trips to Disney World to just having fun around the house Daniel embraces his role as a father.
