Summary: Derek Larsen, who has encountered Japanese ceramics when he was at university in the US, is now a professional potter based in Kyoto, Japan. Derek will visit Sydney with two other potters from Kyoto this week to participate in an event which showcases sake and shuki (sake utensils, 酒器) , which the three potters, Derek, Kasumi Ueba, and Aki Katayama made. Derek explains why he chose anakama' one of the most difficult and time-consuming techniques in pottery and shares his passion for it.
