Summary: As part of its Capitol Hill Briefing Series, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, ICCF hosted avian conservation expert Patricia Zurita, CEO of BirdLife International. BirdLife International has identified the decline of Africa’s vultures as a top global priority, and Ms. Zurita discussed both the importance of this issue and the steps being taken to address it. Africa’s vultures are disappearing at an alarming and virtually unprecedented rate. Seven of eleven African vulture species now find themselves on a path toward extinction in our lifetime. Because of the unique role vultures play, Ms. Zurita says, this potentially poses a huge crisis for people too.
