Summary: Alex and his guest, Jim Dicke, tell the story of the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the role of Ohio congressman, William McCulloch of Piqua, Ohio. Alex and Jim discuss the turbulent years in America as African Americans struggle towards equality in the awful world of Jim Crow. We look at the roles of JFK, LBJ, MLK, SNCC and the unknown Rep. McCulloch on the difficult road to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Freedom Summer of '64 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
