Παραμένει διαχρονικό όσα χρόνια κι αν περάσουν και αυτό οφείλεται στη μουσική και στους στίχους του. Η μουσική γράφτηκε από τον συνθέτη και τραγουδιστή Θάνο Μικρούτσικο, ο οποίος μελοποίησε τους στίχους που έγραψε ο Άλκης Αλκαίου -ψευδώνυμο του Βαγγέλη Λιάρου. Η μελωδία του είναι απαλή, αρμονική αλλά και με σημεία δυναμικά και έντασης. Στο σύνολό της αναδεικνύει τα λόγια του τραγουδιού, που από πολλούς θεωρούνται ποίηση και όχι απλά στιχάκια σ' ένα ακόμα τραγούδι. Γι' αυτό το λόγο και έχει προκαλέσει και διαφωνίες σε σχέση με την ερμηνεία των στίχων; άλλοι πιστεύουν πως αναφέρεται στη χαμένη ταυτότητα του Έλληνα, κι άλλοι σ' έναν χαμένο έρωτα. Όμως ο τίτλος του τραγουδιού είναι "ερωτικό" άρα πιο πιθανή είναι η δεύτερη ερμηνεία. Μια αγάπη που έρχεται και φεύγει γιατί θαμπώνεται από κάτι μακρινό, κάτι αξιοθαύμαστο, το οποίο τελικά την κερδίζει. Κι έτσι απομακρύνεται από τον ποιητή, ο οποίος όσο κι αν προσπάθησε δεν κατάφερε να την κρατήσει. Δεν μπορεί όμως να ηρεμήσει και να σταματήσει να τη σκέφτεται, γι' αυτό και ψάχνει την αγάπη του, ώστε να δώσει νόημα ξανά στη ζωή του. Παρόλα αυτά, δεν θα τη βρει και θα έχει να αντιμετωπίσει τη βαρετή πραγματικότητα, που γίνεται ακόμα πιο μουντή τώρα που η ελπίδα του έσβησε. Οι στίχοι εκφράζουν την αγωνία του ποιητή για τη χαμένη του αγάπη. Περιγράφουν το συναισθηματικό του ταξίδι απ' όταν συνειδητοποιεί πως μοιράζεται την αγάπη του, ως το τέλος που την χάνει τελείως. Και σε αυτό το ταξίδι συνοδοιπόροι όλοι εμείς που ακούμε ξανά και ξανά το τραγούδι. ----Formal English---- Erotic (With a Pirogue) The "Erotic" is one of the most melodic Greek love songs and has been performed by various artists. It remains timeless no matter how many years might have passed, and that is due to its music and lyrics. The music was written by the composer and singer Thanos Mikroutsikos, who set to music the lyrics that Alkis Alkaiou—an alias for Vangelis Liaros—wrote. Its melody is soft and harmonic, but also with dynamic and intense parts. As a whole, it sets off the words of the song that for many people are considered as poetry and not as simple verses in just another song. For this reason, it has caused many disputes in relation to the interpretation of the lyrics; some believe that it refers to the lost identity of Greeks, and others to a lost love.
